Our neighbours oak trees are shedding what seems like a million acorns into one of our pony's fields..the branches of the trees reaching a fair way over the boundary.
We pick them up daily as they are poisonous to ponies....difficult with a bad back, we also keep the ponies out of that field...but the little one has managed to get in once or twice so we need suggestions on a better way to get the acorns up...We have tried mowing them up and using a tarpaulin..... has anyone got a better method...its literally driving me nuts!!!!! |

| If you know someone with a pig ask if they can put it in there. Pigs love acorns, also good for the flavour of the meat.

| Not much help for this year, but cut the branches over your land for next year, but give your neighbour all the branch !!! |

| Expensive I know but there are machines that you can use to clean paddocks - they suck up the droppings etc so presumably acorns? |

We have the same problem all we have done is put an eletric fence out as far the acorns drop and we will rake them up when the ground is dryer.they do need to eat tons of them before it does any damage if you google it you will find out all the side affects etc.I will cut my branches back later this year. The large crop this year is due to last years summer, with trees it is always what happened the year before that makes them produce more berries etc.
best of luck
