Season's Greetings

It's Christmas Eve! For many people this marks the start of a well-earned period of celebration and enjoyment, making the most of the holidays with sumptuous food and gargantuan quantities of wine. However, sadly, for millions of people this same period may be one of overwhelming loneliness, hunger and distress.

Making a difference

Each day across the globe, people are experiencing personal crises of as a result of natural or political disaster and aid organisations are always in need of resources to help.

The following small selection of international organisations are involved in numerous aid projects and most are able to take online donations:

And what's more, if you've run out of time to find the perfect gift you can make a difference and solve that problem by giving a charity gift. It could be a goat, a fruit tree or even a tap with clean water! Here is a small selection to choose from:

  • British-based charity Oxfam has Oxfam Unwrapped sells "gifts" online to help people in rural communities worldwide.
  • Vetaid works with vulnerable communities in Africa. The online shop sells both locally-made products and the option to "buy" items such as vet training or a medical pack.
  • Good Gifts Catalogue makes just about anything available for online sale.
  • Alternative Gifts Catalogue sells donation options to communities all around the world.

AngloINFO wishes all its members the compliments of the Season - have a peaceful, happy holiday!
