Seek, and ye shall find... 

Search engines (moteurs de récherche, as they are called in France) are increasingly people's first port of call when on the Web. Whether you choose to use Google, MSN, Yahoo!, or one of the smaller engines, these tools are so popular because they may the sheer enormity of the World Wide Web seem somehow manageable.

Closer to home

Although AngloINFO represents just one corner of the Web, it still contains huge amounts of information. Which is why it has its own dedicated search engine - or, rather, several, optimised for different roles.

• You can use AngloINFO's WebSearch to search the whole of the World Wide Web. Like the INFOrmation Page search this is powered by Google's search engine - the Web's leading search technology.
• You can search AngloINFO's WebDirectory, giving you access to all the sites listed in the Open Directory Project, the "largest human-edited directory of the Web".

Practically every page of AngloINFO has a search box on it, and you can select the area you want to make from a drop-down list.
